About

The doors of Stanley Knowles Children’s Centre (SKCC) were first opened in August of 1988, by a group of parents who realized the importance of affordable, licensed, quality child care. The centre was incorporated in October of 1988. The centre began as a 30 space program and has grown throughout the years to our current enrollment of 125 students; 20 kindergarten and 105 school age children.

We provide before school, lunchtime, and after school child care for children ages 5-12 in a safe, caring environment. We strive to prepare today’s children for tomorrow! School aged care is an invaluable service to parents who are working or attending school. Feel confident that your child is safe, happy, and well looked after.

Stanley Knowles Children’s Centre Inc. is a non-partisan, non-profit charitable organization directed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which includes both parent and community representatives. The board is considered a governing board and is the legal entity and authority of the organization.

Board Governance

In 2019 our Board of Director’s participated in the Manitoba Child Care Association’s/ Early Learning and Child Care’s joint initiative Board Governance Training. All members have received a certificate of successful completion. In addition a Board Governance Manual was created to help guide the centre of the responsibilities, duties and liabilities of Boards.

The Board of Directors works follows SKCC’s strategic plan which guides our program’s ongoing work and our values.
